About Good Neighbors Alabama

Good Neighbors Alabama brings together labor groups, advocacy organizations, and community partners who want more accountability for the big manufacturing companies in our state. 

We believe Alabama workers are good neighbors. They work hard and care deeply about doing the right thing. Together, we envision an Alabama where all working people can flourish with clean water and air, fair wages and safe working conditions, and freedom to organize together without fear of retaliation. For that to happen, the big companies must be good neighbors, too.

We know what it means to be a good neighbor.

Good neighbors care for one another. Good neighbors are respectful stewards of our air and rivers. Good neighbors don’t tolerate unfairness, greed, or bullying. Good neighbors want opportunity for all. 

The problem is that this isn’t how many big companies act – even after they receive millions or even billions in economic development funds and other public money. 

Formerly the Alabama Coalition for Community Benefits, Good Neighbors Alabama is the only statewide coalition dedicated to bringing the big companies to the table to find solutions, seek partnership, and build power for our neighbors. Through collective action, policy advocacy, and grassroots organizing, we strive to build an economy where every worker – regardless of industry or background – has a voice in shaping their future. 
Together, we are committed to economic, racial and environmental justice, workplace democracy, and the belief that strong worker protections create stronger neighborhoods and communities. Good Neighbors Alabama stands proudly with those who share our vision across the state, throughout the region, and around the world.
